Team Spotlight: Graeme Bruce

I still remember the first time I heard about Wilkinson & Associates; it was during my first year in recruitment back in 2007. I remember speaking to a Finance Director at the time when I was at REED, I was pitching to them about my ability to source the right candidate for their job as well as demonstrating my understanding of their business and financials. I was however, stopped in my tracks by the phrase “I use Wilkinson”. The Finance Director kindly went on to explain why, but the phrase always stuck with me, and it wasn’t the last time I heard it over the next 15 years!
Fast forward to October 2022 and I was given the opportunity to join the business. It’s great to see that everything I had heard out on the marketplace around the calibre of candidates, the insights of the team, strong values and a desire to provide a great service were immediately obvious upon joining. You can’t possibly fill every job you work on, or place every candidate you register, but you can always offer a great service with open and honest communication, and in this, I knew instantly we have a shared ethos.
One of the greatest benefits of joining a business that focuses purely on one sector is the level of knowledge and network you immediately benefit from when working with W&A. It’s immeasurable and adds so much value not only to me as a consultant but as an offering to any business or candidate I’m supporting. I think we’re well in excess of 100 years’ cumulative recruitment experience within the qualified accountancy market but I don’t want to go as far as breaking it down into who has what, that’s not fair, but not only is there experience, there is innovation and a continued desire to evolve to ensure our customers receive a best in class service with the best outcomes. This is incredibly refreshing within the industry.
My challenge and responsibility is to help further develop the W&A service in areas of the country where we have traditionally had less of a physical presence. Glasgow, Perth, Fife, Stirling and Dundee have always been places where W&A have successfully recruited sometime more from a reactive perspective. As such, this seemed like a great opportunity for both parties to become far more proactive and as these are areas I have recruited in, it seemed to be a natural fit for us both.
I am delighted to say that so far so good and it feels like some real momentum is gathering, I look forward with real excitement to playing my part as I venture forward in my career with W&A.
