Audit Manager - Model Risk - Edinburgh

W&A is working with a retail bank to help Source an Audit Manager in Model Risk.

This role can be based out of either Edinburgh, London or Gloucester and offers both hybrid and flexible working.

As an integral part of the team, you’ll forge excellent relationships with senior stakeholders, developing a great understanding of their business and provide them with valuable insight on their governance, risk management and control environment. 

As well as delivering high quality and impactful audits you’ll also help shape the annual audit plan and drive continuous improvement within the department.

This is an exciting high-profile opportunity to deliver independent assurance and opinion on a key strategic priority for the Bank.

You’ll be involved in:

• Growing your specialist knowledge and network, becoming recognised inside and outside the department for your expert insight.
• Helping to shape the audit plan.
• Leading increasingly large or complex audits maintaining good quality, time, and budget standards.
• Contributing to the strategic thinking and direction of the audit team and play an important role in shaping parts of the annual audit plan.
• Coaching and developing others in the wider team.

Required skills & attributes:

• A solid quantitative background with good understanding of the key risks and controls throughout all stages and aspects of model lifecycle including quality of the underlying data; models methodology, performance and limitations; model automation and model use.
• Sound and practical understanding of regulatory requirements for IRB, IFRS9, forecasting and stress testing models.
• Prior experience of leading assurance work within Audit / Risk Oversight functions is desirable.
• A critical thinker who can positively influence others to think differently.
• A collaborative team player with a growth mindset and an appetite to learn and develop.
• Strong planning and organisational skills, proven ability to deliver to timelines, experience with managing and delivering multiple tasks.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience of delivering potentially challenging messages to senior management; excellent attention to detail.
• Strong internal and external stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Experience of using SAS as well as Agile project management principles would be beneficial.
