The Commercial Finance Manager role is newly created as a result of significant growth and will join the business at an exciting time of global expansion. The Company has recently opened its first office in the US and is now selling extensively in that marketplace. The role will have notable input into the evolving shape of the finance function and its outputs.

Reporting directly to the Finance Director, the position will assist senior management in making critical business decisions by analysing and presenting key financial data. The role will oversee accounting procedures and prepare forecasts, budgets, financial analysis and leveraging data and technology.

The role requires an experienced management accountant with strong commercial acumen. You must be able to assume responsibility for commercial accounting tasks and contribute to the financial strategy while ensuring the smooth running of the day to day finance functions.

The goal is to contribute to the development of the organisation and enable business growth and long-term success by establishing a robust and forward-looking finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production of management accounts and oversight of month-end processing
  • Provide high quality financial analysis and MI to the senior management team
  • Produce financial forecasts to assist business planning and decision-making
  • Evaluate the company’s performance using, and ensuring the quality of, key data and performance indicators
  • Help imbed robust accounting procedures
  • Proactively champion and own continuous improvement in relation to controls, processes, systems and data
  • Supervise member of the team currently overseeing billing and payables and the development of the billing process and strategy
  • Liaise with external accountants (currently outsourcing accounts production, VAT returns, ledger management, etc) and tax advisors
  • Actively contribute to cross-functional and inter-departmental initiatives and projects
  • Be a point of contact for the leadership team

Background and Experience

  • A post-qualified accountant with previous experience in a similar role
  • Commercial and business acumen
  • Comfortable influencing and challenging senior stakeholders
  • Knowledge of cost accounting would be beneficial but not essential
  • Working knowledge of Xero highly beneficial
  • Knowledge of STRIPE and Hubspot (equivalent CRM) desirable, but willingness to become highly proficient in the technology over time essential
  • Analytical mind with aptitude in numeracy
  • A problem-solver with attention to detail
  • Organisational and leadership skills
