Senior Management Accountant - Edinburgh

Wilkinson and Associates are delighted to be working exclusively with an Edinburgh-based Property Investment Group who are diversifying into corporate acquisitions. Within the group’s current diverse portfolio are a number of successful trading companies throughout the UK.

The Senior Management Accountant role has been newly created due to a recent and exciting acquisition, it will align itself to this new subsidiary as well as supporting the wider Group.

Reporting directly to the Finance Director, the Senior Management Accountant will assist senior management in making critical business decisions by analysing and presenting key financial data. The role will oversee accounting procedures and prepare forecasts, budgets and risk analysis.

The role requires an experienced management accountant with strong commercial acumen. You must be able to assume responsibility of cost accounting tasks and be both a strategist and a decision maker.

The goal is to contribute to the decision making process of management that will ensure business growth and long-term success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production of Financial and Management Accounts
  • Provide high quality financial analysis and MI to the senior management team
  • Help imbed robust accounting procedures into new site/business to bring in line with Group
  • Evaluate the company’s performance using key data
  • Liaise with external accountants and tax advisors
  • Produce financial forecasts to assist business planning and decision-making
  • Proactively look at Continuous Improvement in relation Controls, Processes, Systems and MI
  • Supervise Accounts Assistant
  • Some General Management around the site may include looking at Insurance, Legal, employment, HR and data compliance.

Background and Experience

  • Proven experience as management accountant
  • Ideally you will be a fully qualified accountant
  • Solid knowledge of basic and advanced accounting and financial principles and practices
  • Knowledge of cost accounting would be beneficial
  • Manufacturing experience would be desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of risk analysis, budgeting and forecasting
  • Good understanding of financial software and MS Office
  • Analytical mind with aptitude in numeracy
  • A problem-solver with attention to detail
  • Organisational and leadership skills

This role provides hybrid working with 3 days onsite and two from home. The role is multi-site, being based in Edinburgh and all travel to the subsidiary business expensed which is in Midlothian.
