2022. Checking in…
21st Jun 2022
June is firmly upon us marking the halfway point in W&A’s journey through 2022. Thankfully, so far so good, tides have been favourable, destinations varied and people welcoming. Encouragingly it remains a great time to travel.
So what has been happening at W&A in H1 I hear you ask…..
The first half of the year has seen us add two more to our team with Matthew Law joining to specialise in recruiting within Professional Practice and Debbie McAuley joining our Operations team.
Andrea Green has made a flying start in bringing a focal point to Internal Audit and Risk Management recruitment with some fantastic placements across a range of corporates and consultancies.
We are now back into our fully re-furbished and dare I say, luxurious offices, and in H1 W&A has made a record number of placements across the most diverse range of clients I can ever remember. Testament to the input of our fantastic team.
We are delighted to have worked with amazing candidates to help them secure finance-based positions within the likes of Technology, Travel, Construction, Hospitality, Renewables, FMCG, Asset Management, Banking & Fintech.
Placements have ranged from FDs to newly qualified, subject matter experts and all-rounders, and many of whom have been interims. Some into established businesses already boasting household names, and others into start-ups embarking on journeys of growth and development. Continued evidence of the diversity of both the Scottish marketplace and the career opportunities available for qualified accountants within it.
Thank you to all who we have worked with during this period. We genuinely appreciate it.
And what next….
There is a continued desire for the businesses we support to embrace diversity and inclusion and we are delighted to report that our placement ratio was almost exactly 50/50 in terms of gender balance through H1.
ESG remains a strong corporate headline and thankfully we are now seeing this become a more prominent credential when hiring in the finance sector.
Technology, automation, and investment in data have seen an increasing focus on FP&A and Business Intelligence, and as such the shape of finance functions is changing, creating different roles and opportunities as we go. Exciting times.
Businesses are looking for different things from their employees, and employees are prioritising different things from their work. Flexibility, home-working, culture, values, and balance all come up far more regularly as ‘hot topics’ for those seeking a change. We are too.
In W&A our research function is making fantastic strides in helping us improve our access to the best and most diverse talent available, we have undertaken our own recent transformation in technology, updated to more modern office space, and we are delighted to be welcoming back Fiona Jackson to our team after a period of maternity leave. You have been missed.
We will continue to add talented recruiters to our team (https://www.wilkinsonandassociates.co.uk/about-us/work-with-us.aspx), to continue to build and evolve the service we offer, explore new opportunities and sometimes, just sometimes, to tell you what is happening with us. Like here!
After all, we are more than just ‘job fillers’ we are consultants, some say experts in our field, striving to differentiate ourselves by adding value to all candidates and clients using our unique blend of skills, experience and approach.
Exciting times ahead….
